Clutch Quick Release - No plastic collar
Hi all.
I've only separated the clutch QR once before on a different car, but I'm sure there was a plastic "collar" that was pushed in to release the pipes. Mine doesn't have one . Any ideas about how to split the pipes very welcome. I think (hope ) that the reason my clutch bite point has been getting steadily nearer the floor is the master, not the slave. Have to say DMGRS have been brilliant in getting a new master to me. I've gone for one of the AP ones where you use your own pipework. Now praying I can get the lines apart. I don't want to bleed any muck/gunge that's in the pipework into the slave. Yes, I know it'll probably get washed through, but anything that puts off the chance of something causing the slave to pack up is welcome in my book. Thanks in advance. See if you can insert a thin rolled up bit of plastic in where the collar should be, or beg, steal or borrow an old qr coupling from someone and use the collar from that. If not and you can't release it then reverse bleed the system.

It's a little bit fiddly doing the top up. Make sure only fluid goes in through the bleed nipple and not more than about an inch length of fluid in the transparent pipe. ( don't inject bubbles !!! )
Easier if someone else operates the syringe while you fiddle with the tools.---A little bit of timing required.--- |

Quick update.
New master is in. Got the QR coupling apart - there's a "spare" plastic collar on the one from DMGRS so I successfully used that . Flushed about 300-400 ml of fresh fluid through the new master & pipework then connected up the slave and flushed a further 300-400ml through the whole lot. Fluid running beautifully clear unlike the stuff that was syringed out of the old master which was a disgusting grey/black colour. And the result, a whole different feel and biting point. Gear changing is now lovely Thanks for all the help - much appreciated as well as, of course, the "How to" threads and numerous hints and tips on the forum. Cheers. |
