Hi John.
As above sounds like the UBP get them to give it a tap when trying to start, remove the plug and spray with contact cleaner only, and re-fit plug maybe add a bit of vaseline.

I would say you have done well out of the UBP if it's an aftermarket pump, they fail earlier than that sometimes.

WOB100481 or pierburg are the ones to purchase, or get a good know working pierburg.

Mike i would get the ECM checked as it sounds like it as been for a swim turn ignition on to II and open the fuel flap can you hear the in tank pump buzzing/working.

Another test is remove the fuel line just before it enter the fuel filter put the end into a bottle get someone to turn ignition to II and see if you are getting fuel at a steady flow, when was the fuel filter last changed.

It could be injector try easy start in the EGR when trying to start the car, only a sniff mind.

Lets us know how you get on.

Right, thank you for your responses, I checked on Sunday and I had got flow out of the filter, but today whilst messing around, I changed the fuel filter, just as a process of elimination, the filter started to fill, and then there was like a high pitched squeal from the back end of the car, since then, we’ve had no fuel delivered to the filter, I was going to put 12v straight across the pump tomorrow, again, just for elimination, put yes, I do suspect the ecu.
I had it out and on the radiator overnight on Tuesday.
The car has started twice today, but we’re now back to a none starter.
I’ll message Russ about checking the ecu for me, I wonder if he could map it to 160 whilst he has it.

Just been out and checked, there is no oil light, so I’m guessing the ecu has taken a dunk.

I have genuine new underbonnet pumps for sale, and if your garage cant fix the issue, I'm only down the road near Bungay, I'd be happy to put T4 on and see what the issue is.

Well, that is very good news for me, that you're nearby! I might be turning to you for other things. Weren't you in Lincolnshire or Notts or somewhere before?

Garage is now working on rewiring the under bonnet pump. Apparently there was no power to the pump from the relay, although clearly an intermittent issue. Does this make sense to anyone?

Could be the ecu causing the loss of power to the pump.

Quite common if it has taken a bath at some point.

Hi John.
When they rewiring? do they mean that wiring as been found that is chaffed or broken, so they will splice a piece of wiring in or are they going to rewire using a switch ? most of the time it's a wire going to the ECU or even under the fuse box in the engine.

I think Andy may have it the nail on the head, please let us know the out come and what they did

I'll see what the outcome is. If it turns out the ECU was the issue, can someone remind me, please, what I should do next? I used to know but it's been a while.
