Sill Jacking Pads.
What's the best way to attach one of these to the sill, interference fit only or some type of adhesive/ silicone etc?

Cut a piece of garden hose or similar, slightly longer than the two prongs and wedge it between to spread them a bit. Then tap them in.

If you are fitting old used ones double up on the garden hose - cut through one ring, roll it up and place it inside the outer ring.

I stuck mine on with silicon sealant but had one come away remaining attached just by the sealant. I was wondering what the intermittent banging was and stopped to investigate. Pulled it off so as to be able to do a better job of fixing it next time. They are expensive to replace with new!

Just to update this thread the sill jacking pad arrived this week but there may be a problem. The listing on ebay was for the pad I posted a photo of above (in fact I copied the photo from the listing) and it has a recess in it to receive the dimple on top of the scissor jack. This is how the others on my car are.
However, what arrived was this. Not only does it not have that recess but it seems to have a protuberance which would actually prevent the jack from engaging. Before I return it, am I missing something here? This seems to be the completely wrong part. Last edited by Southern Star; 2nd February 2022 at 18:32.. |

That looks totally wrong, can you post a pic of the opposite side?

I will take a photo in daylight tomorrow although the reverse side looks pretty much the same as the reverse side in the photo I posted above, I think it may be a jacking pad for a different model of Rover?
