Interesting reading that thread. It's nothing like the noise I am experiencing in this thread but it might be the cause of another.....
Methinks I'll start a new thread on this one though... |

Have the similar problem, on mine the front springs seem to catch ( on NS and OS) when turning the wheel when stationary and release causing the knock. I have assumed it is the top strut bearing? Have ordered a couple from Rimmer Bros. Anyone have an idea if they are easy to replace or shall I leave it to the garage? |

Hi longclose and welcome to the club!
The noise you describe is not the same as mine. Mine does not make that noise when stationary - it only seems to be noticeable at lower speeds during turning. I'm hoping Lates will either give my car the all clear next month or we will find out what exactly is causing this noise. I fear the noise you describe is something else though... Strut tops could be an option but I'm not overly sure. Hopefully someone will provide a suggestion for your noises. |

I don't think anyone's mentioned the two drop links from the strut collars to each end of the stabiliser (anti-roll) bar.
If any of the four ball joints has gone, the slightest road bump will register through the suspension as a hard knock. Sorry if this has been discussed already. I didn't see it. EDIT: I see Phil mentioned it in Post 2, but no checks reported (?) TC Last edited by T-Cut; 28th November 2008 at 19:46.. |

Yeah... this thread is quite old. Since starting the thread waayy back last year the car has not got any worse (nor better). Lates' during the service last year checked things over and couldn't find fault and neither recently can another mechanic at a local garage.
As has been suggested, the knocks are probably just movement felt through the had suspension. Top mounts, antirollbar mounts et al all seem secure. I'll have another nose around next week when the car gets it's brakes changed. |
