Weird water leak into boot! ??
Checked my boot today, first time in weeks. And I seem to have a water leak under the centre of the rear parcel shelf!! ???
I'm thinking, rear screen, but it's further in than the rear screen? And slightly of the right of central. No sunroof. Saloon car. Any idea as to the cause? source of this leak? Thank you. |

Proven with a leak is where it drips is not necessarily where it leaks in. When you say further in do you mean to the rear of the car? Check side trims are fitted secure and it won't hurt to check the rear light seals to ad a matter of course.

Hi Parker. The leak drips down onto a position roughly under the centre of the parcel shelf. Luckily I had a large piece of cardboard in just the right place to catch it! But is has flooded onto the carpet a bit now, I should have checked sooner innit.
Both sides are dry, the wet bit is nearer to the back seat than the rear screen.. ?? ... |

It must e through the rear seal finding a channel to run in before it drips, can you throw someone in the boot whilst you pour some water over the screen.

weird water leak in boot ??
hi! check my thread from last week about self same thing, we found the boot seal was not making a good contact with the bootlid right were you discribe the leak on yours, the seal/flange below the rear screen (screendeck) gets bent down slightly, water/ melting snow etc collects and leaks into the boot......... shut someone in the boot with a torch you will see what i mean

I had exactly the same symptoms with mine for quite a while before I found it. I sealed up the rear screen. Still wet. Sealed the chrome side trims. Still wet
Checked the rear light seals and they were both split. The water was creeping through the carpet and collecting in the area just under the middle of the parcel shelf. The rest of the carpet felt dry. Note to self. Don't rule out the rear light seals

The leak is deff from above, as the cardboard is folded in two, and the top section is much wetter than the bit underneath, and the tea cloth under that is dry..
So I will check the rear screen seal and see if that sorts it.. I tried to put someone in the boot, she deff wasn't very happy about it though, and put up quite a fight and managed to escape!... Not sure what the outcome of that will be till my case comes up innit.. Thanks for all the help so far, will update this when I have sealed the rear screen and applied some water.... Uh ohhhhh... ... ... Last edited by James.uk; 7th February 2013 at 20:35.. |

I have a similar problem but mine is a tourer and it only leaked onto the load cover after the snow melted, doesn't leak when it rains though.
