Front bumper off/cooling fan
Any tips to get it off, anything I need to buy beforehand ? Just tried the demist test and the fan didn't come on. It's a 2 speed with resistor. Do I need anything before hand buying the uprated resistor?
Just off out to see if the high speed fans kicks in, what sort of temp should it kick in at? Thanks. |

Here's are really good bumper removal How To: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...read.php?t=204
Just mentioned to another member by T-cut. Make sure when you replace the resistor that you use good quality waterproof connector (with high current capacity) or if you solder direct to the resistor that you seal the joint so as to make it weatherproof - if you do solder direct to the new resistor the wire lengths can be a bit tight so you must cut the wire off the original resistor right at the connection. battery or remove the 80Amp fuse link which supplies it and make sure that the wires are not rubbing on the matrix behind them when you have finished. |

Where's the best place to get a resistor? What fuse is the fan on?

You can get a gold resistor on Ebay but far better getting one from Jules.
The fuse is in the engine compartment fuse box, BIG 80 amp fuseable link which is held in by screws. Wee tip: check the fan operation (demist test) before putting everything back together. |

Or if you're into DIY, buy the bare bones unit from Farnell or RS Components and wire it up yourself. Cheap and cheerful.

To test the high speed fan, search for trinary switch test on here, that way you can quickly test the high speed whilst on your driveway. I think Jules did a how to. Only takes a few seconds.
When removing the fan, cut out the fan housing around the aircon pipes so you dont have to disconnect the aircon pipes and loose all the gas. The fan's wiring plugs are to the right of the fan attached to the chassis arm (if youre looking at the car from infront). Just disconnect the fan from there when wiring your gold resistor. I got my resistors from Jules Rick |
