Default My car has just been reversed into.

So, I've just replaced my front control arm bushes and the car passed it's MOT yesterday. I'm feeling pretty good thinking that I'll get at least another years use of the car.

Then today someone reversed into me, damaged the bonnet and the front bumper. When the insurance realised how old the car is (14yrs) they tell me it is likely to be a write-off.

What can I expect to happen next? - the car will be inspected on Monday.

Dot no, I repeat do not let them take the car, if it is a write off you have the right to by it off them.

Keep the car at home. Don't let anyone take it away. You will never see it again. Insist that any inspection is done at your address. Yes it may well be written off but just collect the insurance and repair it. Bonnet and bumper are easily replaced and you will have money in the bank for any other jobs you fancy having done. Good luck.

I'll definitely keep it at home/drive it, as it is roadworthy.

I had a similar situation recently, insurance ended up covering it.
They gave my panel beater a quote to fix it, I ended up buying the parts secondhand in the process as the bumper needed replacing , put a s/hand Zt bumper on, came out cheaper than what they quoted so got the roof re sprayed as well !!

Same here, i let it get inspected at a local garage that was happy to fit a second hand parts. Got it all sorted and sprayed for less than half of what it would have been at a big chain garage.
