Front Shock Absorbers - Sachs
Hi,
One of my front springs let go last Friday, taking out a good tyre :-( As it happens I have two brand new original springs as spares ( I've had a spring go before). I'm thinking of getting a couple of Sachs shock absorbers and changing them at the same time as the springs. My question is: will the protection kit (dust covers) that is on the original shock fit the Sachs shock? Are there any better choices of shocks for a Rover 75, I see Rimmers have them but I'm a bit dubious of the quality as I don't think they will be the originals? Appreciate any advice, Regards, Tommy :-)

I have fitted Sachs shocks to my 75 CDTi together with lowering springs. Bought together with new dust protectors and buffers. https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Front-Sh...QAAOSwQTVV9E1H
Quality? I think they are good, work well. I done on them 6000 miles. |

Anyone know if the protection kit on original shocks are compatible with Sachs shocks?
Tommy :-)

Weren't the protectors only specified for certain build dates where the springs were known to fail?
If so wouldn't that mean officially you wouldn't need them????? |

I think the "protectors" the OP is talking about are the rubber gaiters and not the spring break metal cups. |

the diameter on the sachs units should be designed to match the originals to avoid tyre rub... if not i am sure a bit of Heath Robinson will sort you out...
