We were and are registered too, it seems to it made little difference to the sheer number of calls. Many are from abroad, but there are numerous companies who set up in the UK making these calls who ignore the TPS list. You hear of them regularly being raided, but they just phoenix.

I'm sure the telcos could easily block these callers, they just need a good enough reason to reject the business. The telcos provide them with lines to make the calls.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

By coincidence, I received a phone call this morning from someone who said his name was Dave and could I check the messages on my phone as he had sent £6,800 to me by mistake and could I send it back to him. It became more suspicious when he asked what country I was in, he said he was in a state because his dad had died of the virus. He kept on ringing me with several calls in succession.

I blocked his number and turned my phone off.
Later on, I checked and no money had been received. It was a scam.

Most of the population here, have no bank accounts and no credit cards because of poverty. Banking is carried out through Microfinance cashless using Mpesa on the mobile phone. In fact, cash is no longer accepted in many shops etc. Everything is paid in and out using the Mobile phone, a system pioneered in Africa by Vodafone.

I Have caller identification too. Plus a message system if I'm not at home.

My identification system is my brain.--

I was born with a brain that remembers numbers. I carry the phone numbers, land and mobile, in my head of, all my family and friends.

Also medical references, credit card numbers, dates of birth etc.--Any numbers. There is an annoying part to this though, I can still remembers things like phone numbers from 50 years ago.
I would like to forget them but I can't.---

I simply don't answer any phone number I don't recognise.

Had, what appeared to be, several UK numbers call us a number of times over a couple of days. These rang off before we could answer (as we didn't recognise the number we wouldn't have taken the call anyway). We are led to believe that they hope the recipient does a call back and the number is a high charge one, they answer but say nothing.

There are some really despicable people out the so take care.
I find these calls very strange Gary. Even if you pick up the phone as fast as possible they still hang up.-

How do they make money out of doing this as they most certainly haven't sold anything.

I had to get a call blocker on my mother's line. BT said any scam call will be picked up by the system and the words SCAM CALL will appear on the display. We have written notes next to the phones saying if this comes up dont answer
