Default Ill fitting boot guard trim

This has been a source of irritation for some time. The boot guard trim that fits over the locking latch has 4 plastic lugs that usually fit snugly into the metal frame of the boot. Mine have all broken off with age so it's not fitting snug and stops the boot from closing. Has anyone else had problems and know of a remedy or a modification to hold the trim in place? It just looks awful without it.
Thanks

Afraid not. However, I managed to sort and its now holding firm and allows the boot to close. I used double sided tape, but first I removed the metal clips on the boot threshold. Worked a treat!
