I have a nail gun in my shed, it belongs to a friend of mine whom is a carpenter he came round about 12 years ago when i was doing my decking, he said i have a nail gun in the van you can borrow it, no thank you i said i am screwing all the planks, i will leave it with you just in case you do need it.

12 years on and its still in the shed i have not seen or heard from him since

That is most intriguing. I love the idea of a nail gun, but I also prefer good screws myself just in case I need to disassemble. Also, the construction, if done properly with screws, is less likely to split anything. But nothing beats a nail gun for ease and speed I'm sure. I have seen some interesting radiographs of skulls where nail guns fired inappropriately, so there is such a thing as a bit too quick

pre drill the hole for the nail, make sure the head does not sink into the wood further then flush. On a shed should be able to lever the planks off but floor boards, I agree screws for disassembly.

Screws are not expensive and I always use screws myself.

Nails in wood in outside conditions can frequently become loose due to wind and rain. Much less likely with screws. Also it's quick to modify things that are screwed together rather than to try to tear them apart.
