I wonder how long all the public enquires and planning consultations will go on for, if it’s anything like the proposed new Thames crossing I can’t see them starting construction for maybe another 5 to 7 years.

Well they should have finally installed the window frames into those stones by then, it's been years since they started it.

2 Mile tunnel, can see this becoming a mecca for the boy racers within easy travel distance.
This is less than 2 miles from my house and the disruption at the moment with all the survey work is bad enough, heaven knows how bad it will be during construction. I can see traffic through my little village increasing dramatically.

There are no rare species of bats or frogs there then?

The rare bats are the planners who have overriding influence.

Errr, that was my point. building a pointless tunnel close to the existing route instead of building a new bypass further away and redirecting the majority of the traffic through altered road layout, something that happens everywhere else.

Starting construction, yes.---But by the time it's up and working the government will have taxed all the cars off the road in an attempt to make up the current deficit. ---
