Well there's a thing. "Supermarkets are a major hub for the transmission of the virus". No real surprise when there are about a dozen people all around you and staff fulfilling online orders seem to think they are immune. So many people at those locations who appear to have no comprehension of distancing.

And CNN isn't?

It's funny how words and phrases can be illustrative of a mind-set.

Conspiracy Theory can also lead to a real and genuinely advantageous result of experience triumphing over a pending disaster. All a matter of a free and questioning mind.

When they continue ad infinitum on a particular theme, you can be sure they are every bit as valid as anything else. Only the eventual outcome should be the decider.

Default Virus killed no one

The virus killed no one, who says a top consultant he said unlaying medical problems killed people, many were terminally ill, or seriously ill, they killed thousands of people needlessly during the first lock down, 3000 in England in April. I know from experience they are lying, someone close had vascular Dementia, they were in Hospital on a drip for five weeks and passed away we were told pneumonia was cause of death, they were never in ICU or on a ventilator, yet when the Death Certificate was issued it said cause of death, Covid-19, how many more times has this happened.
The media has people frightened about the virus the flu is more dangerous, oh and they added flu cases to virus cases, the graph for the virus deaths was nearly flat lining, once they added the flu virus deaths started to rise, no doubt we will be told the virus is killing younger people now, so advice will be fir everyone to get the vaccine.
Look after those over 70, and if people want to stay in ok, but let the rest of us get on with life again. ,

As each day dawns yet another contra theory breaks out that makes you sit up and reinforce your 'prejudices'. In the widest read paper today a full and complete rebuttal of most of the so-called "facts" about the epidemic.

Pages 16 & 17 with the strap "What They Don't Tell You". All the stats by comparison with similar periods historically.

They include a lengthy list of the truth about figures from the start, backed up in records taken at that time, including facts about what people died of rather than 'with'. And the true picture of NHS hospital vacancies and the scandalous treatment of elderly hospital patients with non-Covid life threatening illnesses being transferred to care homes and the difference that made to those figures.

What nobody can understand is why such a dangerous attempt to instil fear and panic was undertaken. I'm not saying it was deliberate, though fear of being seen as doing nothing or dithering by an incompetent government probably exceeded normal levels.

It is not that difficult, provided you look. Reading MSM and watching TV will not provide any clues:

" it is an effort to gradually close down all very basic civil liberties. The freedom of speech, the freedom of movement, the freedom of association, of belief, you name it - one by one are being gradually shut down as a - as the one-party state starts pretty much consolidating its power."

That is what is going on. The above is not written about Covid, it is about the Cultural Revolution in China, in which maybe 55 million people were killed.

https://www.npr.org/2016/05/05/47687...ral-revolution

It is already happening, yet people generally refuse to accept it.

And we are being told directly what they have in mind:
You will own nothing. And you will be happy:

And what about the people?

There is much much more

Can we keep this thread on topic - if possible.
It's supposed to be about COVID not pushing ones political thoughts or conspiracy theories.

If it continues to be used as a soapbox then the thread will be closed.

Is it not possible to just ban posters from a specific thread if they persistently take it off topic? It would allow the discussion itself to continue for those who wish to participate sensibly, with the added bonus of feeding the paranoid delusions of the more comically unhinged among us.

Nobody likes to see a thread closed down, especially for the wrong reasons and a thread of over 800 posts is testament to the enthusiasm of contributors.

Rather than close a thread for one or two or three posts that seem beyond the bounds to some, why not offer perhaps a tighter definition of the thread title?

The subject under discussion could not be more ‘Social’, as it applies to everyone on here and throughout the country, but by its nature can stray.

If a post crosses some loosely-defined or misunderstood barrier then either the individual post might be in jeopardy and disallowed or at least edited. That seems a tad more polite. Better a blue pencil than an axe.
