I'd be inclined to seal them with lacquer soon as I think the plastic will soon start to lift and allow the weather in.
Jim. Never thought of Lacquering them before, but I am going to do that this weekend, as you say the Plastic cover just makes them look used as soon as I got them out the box and is no use at all.

I have bought another set of Starspoke's as cannot for the life of me find Vortez wheels so will get another set of badges done as extra.

You'll need to use a bit of heat to remove the plastic cover. And as regards vortex they are like the proverbial rocking horse do do, I've only seen a couple of sets other than my own.

Jim, are your Vortex wheels liquid silver (same as star spokes)? If yes where did you get the paint from?

Super job you've done on the wheel centre's I'm hoping to do the same soon :-)

I've got a brand new set of liquid silver (mbs) centres but really want to keep them in reserve for future refurb of one of my star spoke sets.

Tommy :-)

Hi Tommy

The oem finish on Vortex rims is a polished diamond cut effect, however when I bought my car the rims had already been refurbed in a painted silver finish. I did investigate having them refurbished in the oem finish but it requires an expensive diamond cutter and I never found anybody that could do it at a reasonable price. In May I had the rims stripped, powder coated and lacquered in silver chrome, looked good but they started to deteriorate within months. So I have had them done yet again, this time by Danum's in Doncaster in sparkle silver (not Rover MNH silver sparkle), really pleased with them.

A couple of photo's to show the as new finish

Thanks I was really pleased with the refurb of the wheel centres, in the "flesh" the silver doesn't clash as much as the photo seems to show.

Just a thought about refurbing star spoke's, have you heard of these people

http://www.pxwheels.com/Store/list.php?brand=Rover

as they do have sets of star spoke's for part exchange, mind you they aren't all that cheap.

Even dearer for Apex's but I've heard they make a good job.

The price is drive in drive out. They put your tyres on freshly done wheels.

Yip! seen these on ebay, as you say a bit expensive - I'll probably just get my own wheels refurbished - the question is should I go for something similar to Liquid Silver or just go for Silver Sparkle :-)

Thanks again,

Tommy :-)

Must be quite an art in ensuring that they always have a stock of wheels in!
