Easiest option is to replace the whole unit. Try a post in the items wanted section..

If the LED's are all out, best to check the supply is getting to it, rather than just replace it.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Harry, when they fail they fail. There must be some resistor in the unit which breaks down, not the first time I've heard of the problem. Plenty are available second hand..

Was that the same behavior as when it was on your car?

You need to know, to ensure it is getting a supply...

If a used one is not good enough, then you are left with two choices, see if Rimmers can supply a new one, or repair what you have.

Were it me, with Paul's suggestion of regular failures, I would repair mine...

12v superbright red 5mm LED's are not expensive from China in 100's, or you could buy ordinary superbright red LED's plus resistors to make them suitable for 12v (well actually nearer 15v peak volts).
