What were the OEM tyre brands for the 75?
Just a question based on curiosity.
Does anyone know what brand and model tyres were fitted to the Rover 75, and if they changed at all during the cars from 1999 to the last produced? Cheers, Graeme

I am pretty certain that the earlier cars, out of Cowley, were fitted with Continentals.

Tyres
Bought my 75 tourer in Sept 2003 with Firestones.
Purchased another new set of Rover alloys with tyres thro ebay in 2006 and they were fitted with the same Firestones (all 15") (those 2 sets have lasted over 60,000 miles including bad tyre wear on rears thro incorrect factory alignment on first set)

My low-miles, '04 facelift V6 had its original tyres on Serpents when I bought it - Dunlop SP Sport Maxx.

I can confirm that early cars at least had Continentals.

I was looking at sets of brand new serpents shortly after MG Rover closed and I remember them having Dunlop SP Sport tyres fitted to them.

They're still on mine - 25k miles and the rears are less than half-worn, fronts have around 4mm left. I had each wheel off when I got the car to give the tyres a once over as they're obviously10 years old now, but they're all OK.
A mail to Dunlop querying their suitability for continued use got a nice 'unless there's visible signs of age related deterioration, carry on....' sort of reply! Pete

In 2010 I bought a 2001 75 1.8 with 41.000 km on the clock in Germany, the car was fitted with Michelin Pilots on original alloys. The manufacturing date on the tyres was 2000, so I expect the car was manufactured in 2000, registered in 2001 and the tyres were still original. I ran another season on them without noticing any age problems.
