Default Front Shock Absorbers - Sachs

Hi,

One of my front springs let go last Friday, taking out a good tyre :-(

As it happens I have two brand new original springs as spares ( I've had a spring go before).

I'm thinking of getting a couple of Sachs shock absorbers and changing them at the same time as the springs.

My question is: will the protection kit (dust covers) that is on the original shock fit the Sachs shock?

Are there any better choices of shocks for a Rover 75, I see Rimmers have them but I'm a bit dubious of the quality as I don't think they will be the originals?

Appreciate any advice,

Regards,
Tommy :-)

I have fitted Sachs shocks to my 75 CDTi together with lowering springs. Bought together with new dust protectors and buffers. https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Front-Sh...QAAOSwQTVV9E1H

Quality? I think they are good, work well. I done on them 6000 miles.

Anyone know if the protection kit on original shocks are compatible with Sachs shocks?

Tommy :-)

Weren't the protectors only specified for certain build dates where the springs were known to fail?

If so wouldn't that mean officially you wouldn't need them?????

I think the "protectors" the OP is talking about are the rubber gaiters and not the spring break metal cups.

the diameter on the sachs units should be designed to match the originals to avoid tyre rub... if not i am sure a bit of Heath Robinson will sort you out...
