Voiding the warranty
I've purchased this master cylinder - https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-STC100146.
The Product Description panel on that page says: "Please do not tamper with the internal diaphragm or attempt to refill the cylinder as it will invalidate the 12 month warranty on the part." I asked Rimmers about this and they said if I take the cap off the cylinder it will void the warranty. |

I suppose what they are worried about is that if the brake fluid content drops, and you refill it ( by taking the cap off) you could invalidate them claiming their money back off the producer, under their warranty with the producer. Just a guess. You should not have to do that anyway, it’s new. Problem is...........how do you replace fluid when you fit it. It needs bleeding?? Strange one this is.

I don't even know if it's full or not. There was fluid on the outside of it when it arrived and fluid on the inside of the plastic bag. Some of it is leakage from the vent hole (see pic) but some could just be overspill from a messy filling procedure. Rimmers suggested sending it back for a replacement but they haven't answered the basic question: how to bleed the system without voiding the warranty. You're probably right re the producer/supplier. |

The section to the slave cylinder should be full.-- If not then reverse bleed the lower pipe before making the connection between the two pipes. |

'19/08/11' reads 19 August 2011 to most people. A warranty rule that's impossible to follow seems illegal to me. TC Last edited by T-Cut; 5th November 2020 at 12:24.. |

It even says up to where you should fill it on the cap !!!
Could it be that they are selling old stock and are trying to worm their way out of honouring any kind of waranty on it ? Pete |

As you said Jon these are designed to be fitted without bleeding. Dates can be written right to left I was checking something from Sweden yesterday and that's how they printed it. The blue label could be the manufacturing date of the assembly: 27th November 2013 at 9.29 in the morning..

2019 or 2013.--- Maybe it is old stock so that's why they don't want you messing about with it.--- |
