Very nice ! Had a couple of Anglia Estates a few years back. And yes these Mk 1 Cortinas were big back then ! At least they fit into a standard parking space with ease ! My 75 tourer tends to hang over each end !

Yet if you got inside the Cortina, it would have much more room. Although it would crush you inside in a collision by comparison to the Bini lol.

A number of years ago, I was thinking the same thing, as I watched a mk1 Escort pull up alongside a mk whatever (the current at the time) Fiesta. The Fiesta dwarfed it in every direction. It was quite shocking, as you say, these were 'big' cars in their day.

I have a Corgi 'woody' version of this ............... somewhere lol Sprung wheels too.

these are the cars standard parking space sizes were made for ............. and still are! The size of spaces have not changed for decades

There's quite a few old cars where I live, a couple of early Mustangs, an Allegro Vanden Plas, moggy 100's, Spitfire and these I managed to photo

Oh, and to certain members, those are"wing" mirrors

My sister had a Saloon Cortina and I have to say, I do like those cars.
Seeing nicely restored old cars is a real pleasure

I believe the MK6 VW Golf is as big as the original Passat.

The original Mini will sit inside a new style Mini easily.

I was at a classic car show last year and there was an Austin 7, my dad had one and he used to do 12k miles a year in it. Four people would be like sardines in a tin

Way back in 1974 my first car was a mark 1 Cortina 1200 deluxe two door saloon in blue with a white roof. I can still remember the registration - 389 FCG.

Up north, we didn't consider the Cortina (in any mark) as a big car though it would, I guess, be dependent on whether the reference is about the size of the vehicle or the engine size (cyl/cc).

The Zodiac/Zypher was the "big" Ford followed by the 3.0 Granada. The Vauxhall Cresta (I think) was also considered big and I would think the 3.0 Austin Landcrab (when it was introduced).

Kev
p.s.
The Bini should really be Midi and nearly big enough for Maxi.
