Retirement -They Miss Me!
I retired in late September, and whilst working, apart from having to carry out my role, I was tasked with ensuring all the stock we used or potentially needed was obtained and kept to minimal levels.
Prior to finishing, and during the last couple of years, I created guidance notes on how to achieve that supply, including all companies, contacts and how to create the orders, and the placement of those supplies once received. I ensured there was a hard copy file for my colleagues and support staff to access should the "magic" computer not be accessible; that file was a mirror of what was on the computer. I sent my colleagues e-mails advising them of that again in the last two months, and that included the management. I got a telephone call yesterday asking me how to order a specific item and how to prepare them for use. I reminded that caller of my preparations. That person then asked "who is responsible for arranging and ordering the item?" I then was able to say " well as senior manager, it's you! " I felt very happy with myself. |
