I would very much doubt there is a separate fuse, just for the HL brakelight. If your other two brakelights are working, you can safely assume it is not a fuse.

I would suggest removing the HL and testing it across 12v (polarity may be important) and if that works, look for a break in a cable or poor connection.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

No switch, as such. It is triggered by an hall effect switch at the brake pedal, which sends a signal to (I think) the light switch module, which then tells a boot mounted module to turn the brake lights on. Its all multiplexed wiring these days, no simple switches.

I think, as a first step - you should ascertain whether you have you lost the earth or the 12v at the HL light. Either one or both missing will cause the fault.

Assuming 12v is not appearing at the light when pedal is pressed - If both of your rear wing cluster brake lights are working, you need to trace the wire from the HL light, back to source. It looks as if the 12v ought to be appearing on a purple at the HL brake light and is fed via some sort of in line choke then eventually to a lighting module in the boot area.

Thanks again Harry i will try and source the power, if that fails i thought i might tap into the brake light feed and run a cable up to hl light what do you think of that idea?

I will not comment on that idea, because I simply do not know what effect it might have on the ECU.

As said, find out which is missing +ve or ground, then we can maybe progress it from there.

I guess you know about the trick of sticking a sharp pin through a cable, to make contact with it for test purposes? Those pins which seamstresses use which have a small plastic ball at the end work well, but I don't know what they are called or even used for.

Much as I hesitate to post that I even know....

They are called marking pins and used for dress-making and tailoring.
