Default Will this cable work?

Hi folks,

I'm still kicking, but have been seriously busy. I really haven't had time to hang out with you guys and girls for the past few weeks.

Anyway, I have just downloaded TOAF since there doesn't seem to be any other such support here in Slovakia at the moment. My priorities at the moment for TOAF are to turn ON the Daytime Running Lights, turn OFF the automatic door locking when the car moves and change the IPK/computer language to English while maintaining metric measures.

I have this cable https://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Diagnos...72.m2749.l2649 that I bought last year and never used. Can someone say whether it will work with TOAF on my 75, please?

Thanks,
Glenn

Looks like the one I had, and many others have bought too. Just solder pins 7 & 8 together (bridge) and it should be fine.

Actually I found the USB ones less reliable than my serial Edibas cable so that's the one I use now but not many people have such an ancient XP machine as mine with serial options.

Regards

Thanks. Just open the plug and cut the wires to pins 7 & 8, bridge the pins and leave the wires to the USB open?

Cheers,
Glenn

Leave ALL wires connected but make sure there is a connection between 7+8 pins, a short piece of wire will do.

And be careful, it doesn't communicate correctly with the Autoliv SRS DCU, and back everything up individually, and when it comes to doing anything, ask first because it's easier to be cautious than repair the damage that is very easy to inflict with TOAF.

Make sure the drivers for the lead are installed, check which port your computer assigns the virtual serial com to, and make sure TOAF is pointed at the same port.

Have fun, and don't enable 30% DRL or you lose sidelights on the LSM

Hahaha, Brian I understood SOME of that! It is quite a terrifying prospect, really. So, the drivers - there is a little mini CD that came with the cable that I expect has drivers on it, BUT my computer doesn't have a CD drive. There is a driver download on the TOAF site called "USB Serial Driver DS2 Cable 32 bit". Do you think that will work? My computer is a 64 bit. Does that matter?

TOAF has preselected "COM3" in its settings. Is that the Serial Com Port you referred to?

I'm not sure what Autoliv SRS DCU is, but it looks like the airbag computer. I don't have any reason to touch that (hopefully never).

Damnation! I thought the 30% DRL would be the ideal setup. Oh well, I guess with the Xenon projector lights it doesn't really matter if they are on at full strength because they should last longer than bulbs, shouldn't they?

What am I getting myself into???

Thanks,
Glenn
