I read Ranulph Fiennes one a few months back, a thoughtful & odd chap, but a hard b'stard all the same..

I've just checked and of the books I keep about 30% are biographys..

If you want a chuckle though try Tony Hawks Round Ireland With A Fridge & A Piano in the Pyrennes both are quiet good..

This account of the defeat and invasion of Japan in WW2 by Max Hastings had me hooked. If you like Max Hastings this is worth finding. These days I buy all my books at the charity shop or the car boot and occasionally 2nd hand from Amazon.

His Egyptian series was excellent. The last book where the baddie gets stuck in tomb still gives me the creeps

I read them as well, excellent books. I also read all the science fiction I could get hold of.

Remember Sven Hassel books well. Great read.
Early Isacc Asimov books are also good for sci fi fans.

Currently into Clive Cussler books. Brilliant story teller.
( Don't let the movie "Sahara" put you off. Nothing like the book ! )

My reading novels started with Biggles ( Captain W.E. Johns ) back in the early sixties.
Still got all the original hardbacks !!!
