Interesting what constituted luxury 30 odd years ago... no ABS, air con, cruise, traction, fuel injection, alloy wheels, CD player, electric rear windows, remote locking, etc etc. There was leather on this example - not sure if it was standard - and there was the sunroof of course, which was common fitment on many cars of the era. Even my grotty Maestro 1.3L had a factory fit tilt / slide glass roof. I miss a sunroof - brightened up the car's interior, but it was assumed at some point that with the standard fitment of air con, you wouldn't want a standard fit sunroof.

Bought a diesel version as a stop gap, absolutely brilliant car fuel economy was fantastic and it just kept going, had it for a few months until the car I was after became available, sorry to see it go.

I know where there is an decent early VdP with a talking dash which the owner may well let go to a good home. If I hadn't bought the 800 Coupe off him I would have gone home with that instead. Or maybe the Mk1 Metro VdP he also had.

I was given an early talking car MG with twin carbs many years ago by a mate who had given up on it. I drove it for a few months after fixing a few problems until the MOT expired and tried for a new ticket but it failed on so many points that I sold it on the bay of plenty for £200 to a guy who wanted it for parts.

What I do remember was the annoying buzz from the talking dash, central locking that only worked on 1 door, if you didn't catch it on a cold start it turned over for ages until it caught but a good old thing. Seemed sad to sell it for parts but I could have bought another one for what it would have cost to get an MOT.

I'm just in the process of getting my EFi back on the road, hopefully lock down permitting later this year.
Although mine is an 87 car I have retro fitted the talking digital dash and trip computer
