Just checked my service records - same 2 "Micro V" belts replaced in March 2016, about 35k miles ago so I'm ok for a wee while yet! I also noticed 2 new tyres (235 45 17) for £30.48 +vat...chance would be a nice thing now! Whatever happened to austerity?

Blimey Steve - that was a close shave. How old is the belt?

Picked up the car from the garage - MOT advisories - done! £200 in labour
But was expected.
Went for a quote to get new carpet fitted. If I'd known what a fuss it is to fit a new carpet, I would never have ordered one! No quote yet, Boss was on a break..
Air and pollen filters arriving later today. Hmmm...fitting a pollen filter is probably at the limit of my diy skills, even with the excellent "how to" available here. Garages just love folk like me!
Tomorrow - off to get my alloys refurbished. No wonder I'm so poor! At least the bus fare home is free, thank you Scottish Government!
My new Worx Hydroshot arrived yesterday - might get to play with it later today if the rain ever stops...cherry turtle wax foam awaits!

Btw, the garage informed me that all those people with the 'free' extra 6 months MOT only get a further 6 months when they pass their test. Can't have garages missing out because of Coronavirus...

The MOT is currently extended by 6 months from it's expiry, you don't get an 18 month MOT test if tested.

Just get the car tested as normal John

Finished off the various little jobs and the Tourer is driving way better, and smoke free, now. Flushing out the intake system and changing the oil and all filters really has made a difference. While I was at it the plenums were stripped and cleaned out thoroughly, and the bumper will be coming back off to do a bit more cleaning and tidying, but pretty happy with it now.

So for now it's off to the scrapyard shortly for various clips and fixings to get the undertray and other plastic bits underneath secured properly. With luck I'll be coming back with plenty more goodies too.

Default Furloughed car!

In these unsure times ,I usually commute to Greenwich London via public transport but I have decided since returning to work on the 12th may (external construction) I have been using my 75 tourer CDT but I really don't like using my pride and joy in hectic London traffic so I've finished all outstanding little jobs and furloughed the old girl and I've brought a rover 45 😁

Hi Simon.
I have had the NUK for 19months now and the belt was on then so can not really say beyond that, I noticed it when I was taking a photo of something else in the engine bay, so changed it asap the compressor belt was/is ok brand new, so seeing that you need to remove the auxiliary belt to change the A/C belt I presume it was ok when that was changed, but once again no time available for me to know.

The link below will be how a simple auxiliary belt job turned into a nightmare one.

I know, sounds a tad illogical, but I believe the garage. As does MarinaBrian in his response. ?. Anyone else want to chip in?

Today I’ve fitted my new personalised reg plates. The rear one is a 75/ZT specific shaped one.

Also refitted the black ‘ZT-T’ tailgate badge which was missing.

Just waiting on my spark plugs arriving next.
