Well October 19th next year has been proposed.

No details though, which is a worry.

Default A Spanner in the works.

This is the social forum when all is said and done, politics is a part of life and the irony is this. It's politics that ended MG Rover and the reason we are all here to keep our cars going.

I watched the TV coverage of her speech. Yes, I know, a glutton for punishment.
She really does hate just about everything. Especially the association with the rest of the UK. Good job she has no children. I've known several Scottish families in the course of my job, but none like her. Quite the opposite.

The alleged 'loophole' she has magically found is, apparently, a fiction according to legal experts. So, expect a huge amount of legal argy bargy in HoC. Just when we don't need it. She means to take advantage of a perceived vacancy there.

Gordon brown was a canny scot indeed. He was and still is a strong supporter of the union. He sold off 400 tons of the UK gold bullion reserves. Left the UK with around 325 tons only in reserve. He knew darned well that if the scots did indeed get independence, they would be entitled too , and they would in fact be left with very little. Wales and N.I are entitled to a percentage too should a split be on the cards. 50 tons gold reserves wont buy you a strong currency format. The UK is around 18th position in the world for total gold reserves . Russia is up there with the best. Who would invest in scotland ? The E.U will be in no rush to open the club doors. Join the long list of others waiting for years. In 18 mths time recession and famine around the world , following brexit , and covid, and a possible war in europe looming, ITS ABSOLUTELY THE RIGHT TIME TO HAVE INDEPENDENCE . ... ISNT IT ...

Yes, the First Minister has now confirmed it, 19/10/23. It's already being called a Pretendyref as it cannot be a legal thing until permission is given by the UK Supreme Court. That seems well, unlikely. 'Advisory' is the pseudonym. This is not the 'P' word, it's about flummery and hypocrisy being perpetrated on a gullible electorate - no sides being taken, just the truth. It's not a referendum, it's a nonsense.

I wasn't aware that "Once in a lifetime" meant 9 years.

Oh and I noticed that she hated the fact that she was torn from the EU when we left. Well Ms Sturgeon please do tell the world which one of the 27 stars that make up the EU flag represents Scotland, because I have no idea.

It truly is good to know that all the knowledge needed for Scotland and our independence vote is held within the confines of this fine club.
The First Ministers official residence is
Bute House, 5 Charlotte Square, Edinburgh EH2 4DR
Why not write to Nicola and give her the benefits of your wisdom as reading these threads it's clear she is missing some vital facts.
Indeed why not copy your letters and any reply to this thread so we can all benefit.

It just seems a waste that such collective knowledge is not shared with the Scottish Government

Absolutely, given their collective knowledge for every subject it is remiss of them not to have been invited to the UN and the WHO.

So, shoot the messenger? Attack and mock the writer rather than the view?

Perhaps it might be more constructive to address the subject with some valid reply or rebuttal other than a personal attack. Which part of that post was it that annoyed you, causing the lack of composure? Or was it all of it?

If what was written was offensive to you personally Simon, then I apologise. I would not want to be the target of hate mail. Getting like Twitter on here. No more from me then.
