Default KV6 Auto starts in gear

Why does my car start in gear? The other day I accidentally left the gear selector in 2 and turned the key. The car started and shot forwards. My diesel auto won't start in gear. Any advice gratefully received.
Kind regards Graham

Mine has done this since I first acquired it in 2015. I thought it would be a faulty inhibitor switch so replaced it with a supposedly good used one, but it made no difference. I thought the chances of them both being faulty was remote so the problem must lie elsewhere, but I've never been able to discover the fault. So sorry I can't help, but would love to know what the answer might be. Anyone?

Almost certainly it will be the adjustment of the inhibitor switch i.e it's fitted position, relative to whatever activates it.

Failing that, it could be the switch itself.

Hope that helps, although it is from experience on other cars, NOT specifically a 75 / ZT.

And hoping that somebody doesn't say that it's a T4 set up !!

Regards

Mike
