Talking about level sensors, I just noticed that Xpart are fitting coolant sensors with all their K-series repairs using the SAIC MLS gasket/oil rail/bolts kit.

It's at the end: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/par...g-rovers-going

And they claim to have repaired more than 400 engines without any reports of failure.

Statistically, in a three year period, that sounds too good to be true.

On the case of a coolant sensor, they must have come to the same conclusion as we have, Water loss leads to problems with the head gasket.

On the last issue, they obviously are using an item to monitor the level off the shelf, maybe Chineese. Anyone know what they are (if they are) using in their cars?. I would assume this is where we should be expecting it to come from.

there must be a bigger header tank that would be ok to use on the 75 ,its all bout the low volume of coolant ,you lose a bit via a leak and as the volume is so low in the first place its touch and go if any major damage gets done ,,, i would like to see if one could be cut open to see if a reed valve could be fitted giving a true reading of the level as it would float on the level of coolat in the bottle ,as it gets to the magnet it would then comlete a circuit thus putting on a light ,but i think the 75 bottle wouldnt be deep enough so a suitabl one would be needed....

Might be worth contacting them and asking if the level sensor is available separately, without having the HG done.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I would do, they are bound to have taken it from somewhere.
I've posted a question on the other side amongst the MG6 guys, but so far no direct answers.
If the MG6 is available in the UK, it should be a small issue to check the expansion box/radiator to see if there is a sensor there.
