Adrian Flux, and I tried absolutely everywhere to get insurance for the 75 searched high and low, even went to NFU Mutual who told me the bad winter affected everything and was looking at least £900

Phil you and I are the same age and that is about right. The INS industry made a loss last year with the winter, fraud etc and ate trying to reclaim. Your only choice is to continue looking, phoning brokers too...insurance is a mind feild bit your area had a big impact

This industry needs to be more tightly regulated.

It's absurd that one company can quote 2000 quid and another company 600 quid for the same person same details , it's a complete rip off.

A rant a day keeps the anger at bay .

Rant ends

Maybe I have been a bit lucky (or persistant) with my two 75s - £250 each for the last two years and the eventual renewal this year is the same.

Fully comp, 2.5 Auto Tourer and saloon, about 5000 miles each P/a and parked on drive. Christine and myself(both over 60)as drivers and pretty good records.

Having said that when renewal first came through it was about £400 each car. Two or three phone calls and a few hours work on comparison sites got the renewal down to £250 each again probably cos my existing insurers were coming top of the comparison lists ie cheapest, every time for single car policies on the comparisons.

Seems that we have to regard the first renewal notice as just an opening shot in the process and set about working it down with phone calls etc.
