the little black plug is for the seat belt warning light which if you change the pre tensioner can be connected.looking at the plugs is alone is not enough i am afraid.you need to unplug them spray in some electrical contact clener then re connnect.

WIthout going through lots of posts, has this "intermittent airbag light" problem been permamently fixed by any known modification? 'Cos otherwise there will be an awful lot of Rover 75s being scrapped this time next year if they all fail their MOTs and there's no permament fix.....

I also have this problem. Just happened a few days ago and is also intermittent.
Similarly I have a Bulb Failure indication on occassion also but all my bulbs are fine. I heard that underseat connectors on the front passenger side can cause this, anyone experienced this? Apologies to Ballinpigpubs13 for jumping in on your thread.

the main scource of the problem is the connector itself.due to two diffrent types of plating used on the terminals this sets up with the effects of corrosion. electrical resistance which puts on the light change the connector end of problem for good in most cases well99%

Easy peasy answer is to cut out the connectors & hardwire the cables together. problem solved. My airbag light no longer lights up

To cut a long story, had trouble getting the fiddly little yellow connectors apart, so just squirted both sides thoroughly in WD40 and "hay presto"
Thanks all and touch wood problem solved.

If these are the trigger cables for the in seat air-bags then this is really not a good idea unless you know what you are doing WRT static precautions - airbag connectors are designed to short the pins together when unplugged to protect against accidental discharge.

Ive read loads of time on here about being extra careful with these plugs when disconnecting them and such like, but I have yet to see a post where someone has actually set any off accidentaly. (I stand to be corrected). I cut mine when I changed the Seats as the plugs where different it was then that i noticed that they where all blue wire so it dosent even make a difference which way the are connected i.e. - +. I supposed this is because ist a looped circuit. I was a bit lazy and just twisted them together with some tape around them the light did go off but came back on soon afterwards. Now I have joined them together with choc blocks no more light I would recomend anybody who has this problem to do the same.
