Just a shame it's not actually in the car yet . Soon though, very soon (I hope).

If it is a sunny day at the next breakfast meet we are all going to have to wear sunglasses when Cliff lifts the bonnet.

Was there really an engine issue, or was it just an excuse to clean the bits you cant normally reach

Certainly Heineken couldn't have done it better.

Cheers guys .

Sadly, I think most of the bits I've been cleaning will be out of sight when it's all back together . All good fun though, and it takes my mind off the fact that the cars off the road at the 'mo.

The issue turned out to be piston slap (as the mechanic predicted), which I could probably have safely ignored for a good while. Worth doing though, as I spotted a couple of minor issues when cleaning out the bay:
  • The metal coolant pipes that run along the bottom of the rad where showing early signs of corrosion,;
  • a couple of brackets on the sub frame had some minor corrosion starting along the welds.

All ground back with a Dremel now, and hopefully sorted for a few good years to come .

Hopefully it'll all be back in one piece by the end of next weekend, but with all the restrictions now in place, I guess it won't matter too much if it gets delayed.

Cliff

Good news is that if you do get some food when you go in the shops next, you've got somewhere to eat it.

If the re-build doesn't work out, that could be all it's fit for
