Default Both Key fobs worn out

Hi Guys

Just wondered if rubber/plastic inserts were available as both my key fobs have disintergrated after 162000 miles.

Complete cases are available and you can swap the blade and innards over - you need to spend a couple of minutes with a file if you buy the cheapo eBay items.
Don't forget to swap the small separate chip in the old casing over - without it you will be able to get into the car but it will be immobilized.

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem as you and have just sent for a new case and blade from here HERE.You need to send them a pic of your key and they cut a blade to include with new case.Saves having to transfer the blade across and the risk of a wobbly fit.

I've found these a reasonable fit: http://carkeyfob.co.uk/index.php?rou...ory&path=20_74. As Mike Not says some eBay ones are not fit for purpose, tends to be a lottery.

I never bother swopping the chip over, just re-use your old rear case and fit it to the new front part with the remote board.

Regards

I have used these and they work perfectly ok, you will need to remover your original cut key from your old worn out front case, hot boiling in a bowl helps, once out you can remove the cotter pin, same for the new front case, then insert your cut key.

Clip your old back with the transponder in to the new front case, job done.

The previous owner of my car had the same problem and he "fixed" it by superglueing the bits of the buttons back in. Buttons stopped working altogether.

I bought a replacement key off ebay. Perhaps be slightly wary of these as I had to do some filing, greasing and semi-violent pressing to make the old key fit the new case. Key now looks good but I must lock and unlock manually.

Ps make sure you don't lose the small black transponder when taking your key apart!

Another thumbs up for the case that Steve has linked 2 posts up. Bought one from here last year and swapped my blade and internals over no problem.

Xpart offer XPT006500 as a repair kit but they are out of stock at the moment.

Hi Guys,
Thank you for all the info. All sorted now, got a couple of replacements and swopped the bits over!

Did exactly the same as you Vitesse. Used carkeyfob.co.uk. and just used the upper case where the buttons had give up and transferred the key to the upper part. If the key had been designed to fit the lower part then it would have been more simpler. So I have still got the original Velo lower part.
