Cool On this day

On this day, 60 years ago.
On 15 August 1962, a mere three years after the appearance of the Mini, the Morris 1100 was launched with its revolutionary newly developed Hydrolastic suspension.
The location for the launch was Worcester College during the summer break, where the foreign press stayed – and Alec Issigonis was in attendance.

Owned a couple of those. They drove quite well too. Came on the market at about the same time as my E-Type Jag.

I bought Jan one of these (think it was actually the 1300) and must say that I was very impressed with it myself.

They were probably out of production when I traded something in for it, as was the norm, for our cars.

Still is when I think about it, but now a 75 surpasses that old dogma (not that we were ever concerned about it)

Regards

Mike
