Default Coolant level sensor, whos interested?

well, the time many of you have been waiting for has finally come, my sensor is 99% complete

it is currently undergoing field testing and is due to go on my car within the next few days (if it doesnt snow too much)

as many read, my previous attempt never really took off so it went back to the drawing board and it has been re-worked. no need to create unnecessary holes in the coolant header tank, it simply fits in line on the coolant pipe below the bottle. quick and easy to fit, with the added bonus that i will go on most cars, not just 75's and zt's. but im not going to go into detail how it works (not just yet anyway, slight changes may be required)

unfortunatly, due to the way the coolant pipes go on the diesel, it is currently limited to both 1.8's (turbo and non) and all v6's. a different method may be devised for the diesel but it is not really required with the diesels having so few problems with water loss.

but what i need to know is how many people would be interesded?

they will be sold as complete items, no assembly will be required as i will both assemble and test each one to make sure it is properly made and will do the job. due to material cost, and depending on how many people would be interested, the price per unit will be in the region of £15. this will go either way depending on how many people want one (this figure is based on 100 sold, 200 will bring the price down by a few pound, 50 or less will be over £20)

i will not be making any until i am totaly satisfied the prototype is upto the job. this means materials wont be bought untill late jan, so it has had plenty of time to prove whether it works as it should.

so if your interested, please form an orderly list so i can gather numbers. thank you all :xmas-smiley-031:

>>> 40 is the magic number. when there is this much interest, it becomes viable to buy enough to make 100, therefore cheaper for you lot <<<

update - i have now also created a way to moniter the diesel, so all variants are now covered other than the v8 (not seen one so i cant say if either pertro or deisel will fit)

Nice one Reece.. :xmas-smiley-031:

The 1.8 owners should be delighted. And a fair few 2.0 and 2.5 owners should want to invest.. :weihnacht2:

Better safe than sorry innit.. (snowing lightly here) ..

Definatley interested, sounds like a bargain

Easy to fit would be my main criteria, no bulk head drilling, very little wiring etc etc.

Thanks for your efforts and frankly I think you should make some money out of it, get the prices up 30%

Simon

ellow james :xmas-smiley-021:

thanks, im hoping theres a little interest but with something like this, im sure the 1.8 owners especially will be breating a sigh of relief

weve just had a light dusting, but more is forcast...

its not just for when running, as soon as the cars turned on the system will be working, so if water has leaked overnight, you will know before setting off.

i forgot to mention (sorry for the way his sounds, but i know lots of people are out to do you)

if this product is produced, and you purchase it, it will not prevent headgasket failure, so i will not be held responsible if there is a fault with it and your car suffers with headgasket failure. by buying, you agree to this. if you dont agree, dont buy it!

yes, no mechanical know how required. cut a section out the coolant pipe directly below the header tank, put this in line (like a new section of pipe) and stick 2 jubilee clips round either end. 10 min job really. wireing will be a little mor difficult, but there will be a way into the cabin (its only two wires)

With the cooling system being such a weak point personally I think you'd be nuts to have a 1.8 and not be interested! Count me in!

the best i can do at the min is give you some dimensions, as i say, currently untested in a live situation (although destructive desting has been carries out to see its limits, of which more than surpress the 130'c max temp of the cooling system, and 30 psi) it is rated at a max 180'C (just before it starts melting) and was tested to 100 psi at around 60'C

i wont put you down, but taken note. a how to and diagrams/pictures will be supplied as a minimum on the forum, and hopefully with the device. pointless doing one for my car, unless youve got a focus as well
