Emergency: cannot open rear hatch on tourer.
I have a puncher but for soem reason i cannot get the rear door (into the boot/load area of the estate) open.
This is the forst time this has happened. All the other doors lock and unlock with the remote button but not the rear hatch into the boot area. |

I assume the key doesn't open the boot either then?
Have you tried to get into the boot from the back and see if there is a emergency panel that will give you access to the lock to manually override it?

I see, you are refering to the secondary glass hatch in the boot lid?
If you have a puncher and need to get the wheel out can you still open the whole boot? I know the glass hatches can sometimes fail, think you will need to remove the inner panel on the boot and inspect the latch perhaps?

Isn't there a release handle on the inside of the rear door?
THink it's under the removable panel/cubby hole but can't check coz my car's not here just now. Check your owner's handbook - if you have one in the car. |

Hi Jon. Can't promise this will help as neither your tailgate or rear hatch open but it's worth a look, on mine last week the tailgate wouldn't open, the problem was the rubber weather seal surrounding the release handle, this had become trapped stopping the handle from working, when the seal was removed, it returned to normal, refitting the opposite way around provided a cure.

Glad you found the emergency release cord!! The most common fault for causing this is a broken wire in the rubber "boot" running between bodyshell and tailgate in my experiance and definatly the first place to look!! HTH? Andy |

I'd suggest getting the door open and seeing if the release button is functioning with it open, can you hear the latch working at all? At lease whilst you have it open you can fix the wheel... might be worth stripping the door down to see if anything is loose on the inside. Other than that i'm not too sure as I have a saloon... Good luck .

happened to me, agree pull off rubber surrond under chrome boot handle to get at release button, mine was caused by mat getting trapped between door and boot floor.
