Default Car insurance..

What the dickens is going on?!?!?!?!?

For me, a 28 year old, driving licence held for 11 years, to insure a NASP diesel AUTOMATIC I am looking at £800 a year??!?!?!

Have I been in hibernation and woken up? I have tried money supermarket and some quotes were over £2000.
I have never caused an accident. I have, in April been hit by a third party.
