Evening all, house is really quiet tonight, daughter has gone back to uni, and son is away on a school trip until Tuesday, so its back to just the two of us. Seems really strange. I am seriously disappointed, the meet that I organise every year, at Carter Bar, has been virtually cancelled, due to loads of drop outs.

Its ending up where there might be a half dozen of us going if we are lucky. Two years ago, we had nearly 30 cars there, last year it fell flat on its face, and this year is the same, so next year, we aren't going to bother.

Found a real blast from the past today. Remember the days when trains were all hauled by locos and heated by steam. I found the operating instruction manual for the steam generators fitted to the locos, as a secondman operating the steam generator was my responsibility. Some were easy to operate, some were a pig! I can't find a date on the manual but an internet search shows it was printed in the early '60s, it was issued to me when I started on the railway in 1980.
