bonnet struts are they the same on all cars

Hi just ordered some rover 75 bonnet struts are the 2.5 petrol struts the same as cdti diesel ? thanks

I replaced mine 18 months ago and it made a big difference to say the least - a slight push on the bonnet and up she goes so easily
