Door Cappings

First of all apologies for the delay but the issue with these cappings was always going to be how they were going to stick to the door cards “ velour “ type material.

You will have options and it would be good if those of you who buy them post on here as to how you have gone about it and between us we will find the best solution

Simon has made the cappings with a hole either side which will take a small screw into the door card to hold them in place, and he will also supply a smaller round walnut capping with the kit to hide the screws. You may also need a small amount of adhesive in a couple of places but the screws will hold the capping nicely in place which will make adding adhesive a lot easier , or you could just fix them with the screws and see how you go.

If you do not want the holes, Simon will make them without for you if you ask him but you will then definitely need adhesive on the capping.

The pictures below were taken with just the adhesive that comes already on the back of the cappings holding them in place, so no screws or extra adhesive, but of course this will not hold on its own due to the door being constantly opened and closed.

The pictures are affected by light slightly and it may look like there are some blemishes on the cappings but I can assure you there are none

The first picture shows the capping placed right against the top of the door card which is where I think it looks at its best, however if you place it there note that there is a small recess where the top of the doorcard meets the “ velour “ and you may well have to put either adhesive or double sided tape into the recess to hold the top of the capping in place because when you stick down the bottom part of the capping it tends to pull the top out slightly due to the curve on the doorcard

An option is to fit it just below the recess to avoid the above issue

Back door fitted at top

Back door fitted below recess

And finally one with holes and cappings to hide the screws

As with all Simons products the price is reflected by the amount of resin used and these are larger than average pieces and work out at approx £15 each, but he will sell the front and back as separate items should you want to buy the front only and maybe add the back at a later date

Front pair £35 + £3 delivery
Rear Pair £25 + £3 delivery
All 4 £60 + £3 delivery

someting around 15mm should be ok and there is plenty of room at the back of the doorcard so they wont foul anything, few pictures below taken during testing
