Clean air zone.
While travelling along the M1 yesterday near Rotheram, the overhead gantry signs were displaying a 60 limit to reduce air polution.
Could this be the thin end of the wedge for yet more restrictions? What next a lane for electric vehicles with a 70 limit

The 10MPH change does make a huge difference to MPG and therefore pollution - 10% - 15%.
I find that my most enjoyable driving on busy motorways is around 65 to 70MPH indicated i.e. 60 to 65MPH actual speed.

Quite a few stretches of motorway have speed reductions nowadays, The M4 has a few 50-60 max limits where the motorway passes near urban areas.
A lot of drivers complain of 50-60 mph motorway speed limits late at night when the roads aren't busy but once the emission limits build up through the day the speed limits get lowered. New emission speed limit cameras are being rolled out stating in Wales. https://airqualitynews.com/2021/10/0...speed-cameras/

Speaking of clean air zones I see the major airlines are now adding a surcharge on airline tickets because they have to start using Bio fuels, Sustainable Aviation Fuel, or SAF, Which is between four and eight times more expensive than traditional fuel.

I'm surprised Ryanair and Easyjet haven't started a surcharge for breathing air inside their planes.

LOL I've never been on a plane but I've read many things about those budget airlines & it's not far off the mark Blimey! Just read this article this morning, France has brought in a law stating that Car commercials in France must now tell people to walk or bike instead in order to reduce transportation emissions. A bit like 'Gamble aware' or 'health warnings' on ciggies. https://breakingwide.com/car-commerc...ion-emissions/
