Well it's been a couple of days since the rebuild.......
.....and Bones is purring away like nothing has happened. Smooth, quiet, just like she used to be.
So if anybody needs some engine work done on their car, I highly Recommend EC Engines of Brierley Hill. In case anyone's interested, here a picture of the damaged head.

No wonder it didn't turn over. Just as well it couldn't though. That would've made a he'll of a racket.

Aye. Cold weather had jammed the water pump, causing the belt to jump a few teeth.

Thats a surprising amount of damage for what was basically a starter speed failure.
Years ago I had a belt break and it only bent a couple. More recently my brothers van broke a belt too, and again only bent a few. Both these were at driving speeds.

Can I ask if a new head has been fitted or the original damaged one repaired?

A new head had to be sourced, as the damage to the old one was fatal.
