Default Rave on memory stick

After my venerable Windows 8.1 machine finally collapsed, I bought a new one,( Win 11) not realising it had no CD drive.
So I got my local computer shop wizards to copy my Rave disc onto a memory stick but I've no idea how to run it from there.
Ideas anyone ?
Thanks
Malc

I'm no pc wizard so this is my attempt to help as I am not windows 11
Try Google, How to create a new directory in windows 11

Go to your Documents Directory
Create a directory called Rave and transfer the files from the USB, into the Rave directory. Copy do not cut
Create a new desk top icon on your screen.
The path you need to add to the icon to be able to run the disc will be similar to this

C:\Users\pc name\Documents\Rave\TData.exe

pc name = if you gave your pc a name

You could run Rave I suspect from the USB stick

I have rave on my Kingston stick 16gb, it just plugs and plays no programming, run it from the stick.

Well I've tried both of those tips, thanks very much but either clicking the icon or clicking TData direct in the stick, only produces a quick glimpse of the Acrobat opening page.
I think I may have to get an external USB CD drive.

have you downloaded Acrobat reader, sometimes the built in version might be wrong ,download the latest version, but saying that if you click on the USB file and copy it to a new location you should be able to open it fully in the new location i would have thought.

On my Dell Vostro with Win11 does not allow legacy devices to work.

I chose USB2 for 2 of the ports due to having a lot of legacy stuff and I believed the v2.0 ports would handle the older hardware.

Well, neither USB 1.1 or 2.0 Floppy Disk Drive will work. Does not show in File Manager and the only way I can get a file onto a floppy is to use the "Send To" command but that only puts the file into the root as I cannot create sub-directories.

Both USB 1.1 and 2.0 CD-RW's have the same issue in that they are not seen in File Manager and thus cannot be manipulated.

Do not ever buy Dell as their support staff are absolutely useless!

Is not the RAVE files honed for Acrobat Reader v4.0? Should work with later versions but I think they started to re-write AR at v5.1 onwards (directory structure changed, files re-named and such).

Trial and error maybe!

I do not think buying external CD will solve your problem.
Your problem is in fact that now you have Windows 11 on your new laptop. Since RAVE is vuilt for Acrobat 4.0 Windows 11 does not work with that version of Acrobat.

There were 2 options posted how to run RAVE under Windows 10. One of them you can find on this site did not work for Windows 11 - the one which changes font directory. Other solution worked for Windows 11.

However since this other solution is in pdf document I cannot upload it on this site neither like pdf nor like picture.

I will see if I will have time to rewrite it here like plain text.

Keep searching, there's a thread somewhere on this site from a guy in the know and it works a treat. I run Rave from a desk top icon using windows 11 and didnt have to download any Acrobat Reader files.
