Rust, wow that was quick
I purchased some 8mm zinc plated roofing bolts and wanted to remove the Zinc plating from the heads. Leaving the heads submerged in vinegar overnight did the job.
I washed the bolts this afternoon and put them on a tea towel to dry. The screw threads are already showing signs of rust in just a few hours. That was quick, never expected rust in just a few hours. Tomorrow I was going to put black Hammerite paint on the heads, looks like some of the threads by the head will need to be done too. Let this be a warning to you, protect your metal. macafee2 |
