Manual CDTi - slack in neutral ?
As per the title really, in neutral there's about half an inch of sideways 'play' at the top of the gear lever.
All gears select fine and the car drives really well, but would like to make it perfect Any thoughts on what I should look for ? Never had any problems in this area before Many thanks

I'm guessing the linkage doesn't give many problems then....??

Had this problem on Redfive. Turned out to be the gear cables were very worn. Ended up having new ones fitted when the clutch and DMF were replaced.

Thanks Bob, I will have to strip it all apart & see what's moving. Not sure if cables are still available - anyone know if they are the same for all manual models ?
I'm guessing they will be ?

Moorlands Auto Solutions here in Saltash done the work, so they might be able to point you in the right direction of obtaining the cables, if needed.

Pretty rare for them to fail, so if new ones are expensive you could always get a good used assembly from Mickyboy here on the forum.
