Default No escape from some issues I suppose

After five odd years of 75 ownership I shed an inward tear when she drove off into the distance. Never let me down, never threw any sort of breakdown at me. True, she was well cared for, even replaced all the front suspension a little while before she went. She never suffered any of the most common failures that I have read over and over from so many owners here.

Just leaving the village this morning a loud bang from the front of the car and I knew at once that a front spring had gone, no, not my ex-trusty 14 year old tourer, my three year old focus. No matter what you drive, some things are inevitable I suppose.

Our local, long established and trusted garage & MoT station has reported a vast increase in broken springs.

It's affecting all makes and models regardless of cost.

General consensus is the state of the roads and to some extent the proliferation of speed bumps.

Take from that what you will.

Andy.

I think the state of our roads definitely plays a big part. We have some of the worst roads in the western world.

Indeed, and the standard of repair is often very poor. We've had an entire stretch resurfaced, and in one direction the undulations are like a test track for suspension.

Andy.

A lot of truth in that I think.

I make a conscious effort to avoid roads with speed bumps in these days.
