Default K series - be aware!

While putting the 1.8 back together today, noticed a slight bubbling on the coolant pipe that runs around the back of the block.

Nothing serious I thought, a quick rub down and all will be well... no so! Four hours later, it looks a lot better.

So all you k series owners, have a check of this pipe, if it appears to have any bubbling, attend to it before it’s too late.

The ‘low bake’ oven worked a treat 😃 it’s now had two coats of red oxide, I’ll give it a top coat tomorrow.

Just like the rear upper arms, rover liked to paint bare metal for some strange reason.

I change the stat in the sis in laws wee 25 a few months ago. The pipe was fine although it was either painted or powdercoated black.
It certainly wasn't unpainted.

I had the same thing on a 25 that I had a few years ago. Luckily, spotted the leak early but the pipe had started to become a sieve! When I rubbed off what was left of the paint, the rust had eaten right through the pipe.
