Default Rover 75 VVC

Just had a thought, has anyone fitted a VVC engine or head from an MGTF into a Rover 75 or MG ZT? I wonder how that would perform against a 1.8 turbo or 2.5 v6?
Or even better, fit the VVC engine and then add the turbo!

I'm sure they'll be (or would have been) a prototype buried away in Longbridge somewhere but I don't know of anyone making the conversion. The VVC isn't the best unit for the car as it's all about top end power rather than low-end grunt which isn't much good in a weighty car like the 75 and this would have been the reason for the development of the 1.8 turbo rather than using the VVC to plug the gap in the range.

You cant fit the vvc engine or head into a ZT/75 because you will have to change the engine loom/ecu!

there is no cant about it. if someone was desperate enough, the could do it. but why is another question

as for the conversion, cant the vvc unit simply be bolted on (other than changing a few things) surely the blocks are identical? you would obviously need a stand alone ecu, engine would need fiddling with for both the turbo ond vvc to work with eachother etc...

Sorry then i said 'it cant be done', it can be done but would all work be worth it???
Yes the head will bolt on to the block or a vvc engine will fit but its the ecu and all the fiddling for both the turbo ond vvc to work with eachother etc...

It would be easyer getting a 160 turbo remapped with sports exhaust/air filter.

Was thinking about a 75 VVC also, then found this thread

This ain't too difficult, as there are just some extra cables for the VVC unit...
The ECU plugs are the same. Or better: Take the VVC ECU & loom and adapt it to the 75

Without any other work I have the vvc inlet manifold fitted to my 1.8T. Done purely to have a better manifold fitted rather than the plastic one which is prone to warping as mine did and leaked. Hardly state of the art engineering change and set up but the car does have a bit more grunt and no more loss of coolant.

This is better for sure.

Any idea about the flywheel?
Can I keep the flywheel from the R75 1.8 for the VVC engine?
I am not sure about the patterns...
