I put the front bumper on and the fit was terrible, took the headlights back out and I ended up loosening the front panel and moving it over a couple of mm, then I put some additional styrene under the other to bring it up, the end result was well worth the faffing about.
The wheel arch liners were correctly fitted.
Then it was time to remove the off side strut, so I liberally sprayed some plusgas on it and had a cuppa, went back and got got my breaker bar on it and surprisingly it moved, not happy with the effort I would have to give tho so I got some heat on it, 5 minutes later it was all off.

So the next job is to get the springs and top mounts changed.

1800 turbo, I want it to be able to go around corners, I've been down the T Series turbo route before with my old 420GSi

On two of the others, it is the NSR sill areas which are knacked, I'm still trying to persuade Mrs MB to test drive something newer and better, as I cannot face, another clutch/ full set of brake pipes/ rear subframe/ upper and lower rear arms/rear springs on top of a sill repair.

There comes a time in a cars life, when it is time to get rid, her's is at that point.

I wouldn't have thought twice about doing these jobs even last year, but my heart isn't in it any more

Brian
Does that mean that lovely painted and rust-proofed 75 rear sub-frame, complete with new bushes etc. is going spare?

Default roof light

What a coincidence! I too have fixed my roof light today.
On mine, the lugs were missing entirely so I guessed there had been some sort of smaller spring clip originally. Remembering I had some narrow strips of spring steel ( I think they came out of the back of a windscreen wiper blade) I bent these into what I thought would be a workable shape and like Sprinter, applied the old favourite - Araldite
Anyway, it fitted a treat .

Went round to Ian's place and he helped me change the front springs and top mounts.
Went home and cleaned the struts up a bit a gave them a quick coat of black paint, had a cuppa then refitted them, cleaned the wheels and fitted them then lowered the car back down on her wheels, she's been on stands for about six weeks now, stuck a battery on and fired her up and gave her a very short drive.
Just a few more bits to do
