This is what I bought recently: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363351281505 All the best, Nicholas/Zircon PS Just realised that I duplicated Trikey's recommendation (same as Terry of TS Autos told me to get) - so I think that's definitely a vote of approval all round:-) Last edited by Zircon; 25th June 2021 at 10:43.. This is a lot more pleasant than the 800 forum where the same question about the Honda V6 auto turned into a massive row

Oil for the Rover Autobox seems to be almost a religion.
Here are the oils recommended for the Jaguar X-type, which uses the exact same box Plenty to choose from: https://www.carid.com/jaguar-x-type-transmission-fluid/ So if you live in France, or anywhere else for that matter, plenty of choice, if your thinking cap has been put on properly. Nothing special about that box, AT ALL!! Otherwise only flagellation remains. Here is something about the JATCO box as used in the Rover and MANY MANY other cars: https://procarmanuals.com/jatco-jf50...service-group/

This list, produced by an American retailer, includes CVT fluids and even manual gearbox oil which, they say, is fine in the Jaguar X-Type torque converter automatic transmission. Since there is a good selection of ATF available which meets the MG Rover standard, there is no reason not to choose one of these. Simon

The row on the 800 forum went something like (heavily paraphrasing, it was a long time ago)
"Dexron is fine." "No, Dexron will DESTROY your gearbox, that's what it did to mine." "I've got dozens of 800s (this was true) and always use Dexron, have for years with no problem, it meets the spec. It's fine!" "ARE YOU CALLING ME A LIAR???!!11! IT DESTROYED MY GEARBOX." I can't remember if the shouty one was banned or left, but it was a lot quieter afterwards...
