Wild fuel gauge
The ZT fuel gauge is moving quite a bit. Filled it up last week and the reading can move between full and half as the journey goes.
If I disconnect the battery, upon reconnecting the gauge will read zero with the warning light on. 5 minutes into the trip it will then work and find its level. Is this common on the 75/ZT? If I fill up every 400 miles I’m confident I’ll not run out of fuel! I’m guessing the sender needs replacing?

Hello Victor, the problem you describe is very common, more especially in diesel models, but not exclusively by any means. There are lots of discussions on the topic, an example of which is this: https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...ght=fuel+guage
The cause is generally thought to be caused by wear on the rheostat resistor attached to each fuel level float arm. There's a HowTo on fixing/replacing the rheostat somewhere in the archive. It would be worth doing some keyword searching to locate it. EDIT: Image from Frenchmike TC Last edited by T-Cut; 3rd July 2021 at 08:50.. |
